This one-day course (usually 9.00 am until 4.00 pm) is intended to train investigators in how to undertake and complete an investigation into misconduct of an employee, member, contractor, etc. to the highest possible standard. It is helpful if participants are familiar with their employer’s discipline policy.
Each stage of the investigation process is covered, from receiving the complaint up to the writing of the report on findings. A ‘real life’ case study is followed throughout the day in order to raise issues, facilitate discussion and to build participants’ skills in handling each stage of the investigation. Attention is paid to the framing of the allegations and the communication of the process and the parties’ rights.
Also provided will be a model report, so that participants can view the type of format, the layout of evidence and the sorts of conclusions and recommendations which are expected of investigators’ reports.
